Jill's House Benefit Ride was today.
Update: I just found out the number of riders. There was 250 riders and raised over $89,000 almost $92,000 for Jill's House.
Update 2: Someone got a photo of me Leaving Jill's House and going through Middleburg VA. Check Jill's House Flickr for more photos.
A few of us meet here in the Alexandria area. Starting off one of the guys had a flat so we had to stop by the gas station (more on that later). We left there and rode out to McLean Bible Church - Prince William Campus for the meetup. They gave out Chick-fil-A for breakfast.
The ride was nice took some back roads through The Plains of VA and into Middleburg VA then off to McLean Bible Church -Vienna, VA Campus. Where we ate lunch and got to tour Jill's House. It was police escorted. So that was cool going through red lights, not having to stop at stop signs, and having route 50, Dulles access road, and route 7 all to ourselves. Route is posted at the bottom of this post.
Thought it was interesting how people that were driving the opposite direction would pull over and put the hazards. There were some areas where people came out of the house to watch as we went by. Saw people putting cell phones out of their car windows to record us going by. Going through Middleburg people were standing on the sidewalks waving and recording as we went by. But the coolest part of the ride was when we came down to the entrance to Jill's House and seeing all these kids standing on the corner waving with smiles on their faces.
The guy that had the flat tire that we had to stop and get air for... Well his tire went flat again. When we stopped for gas on the ride and a short brake before going the rest of the route. He put air in. The tire went flat again within 15 minutes. I rote out to find an auto store so he could plug the tire to make it back home.
After the tour of Jill's House they gave out the following. These were donated
