Mt. Airy

Last night was the fist time I gotten out to ride. That was not to and from work. It was a nice ride on some back road heading up to Mt. Airy Bible Church to see Royal Taylor in concert. Maps gave me 3 ways to go. I think it turned out to be my own way. Started taken the George Washington parkway. This has to be one of my favorite roads in D.C. It a short ride along the Potomac river where you get a view of D.C. then right after D.C. it is a cliff with overlooks. Even after all these years of living in the D.C. area overlooks near D.C. seems odd. That is something you see in the mountains. Anyways back to the ride. A short ride up 495 to 270 were I got off on 370 to Shady Grove rd. After Shady Grove rd I could not really tell what road I was on. The directions were simple Shady Grove rd, 124. 108, 94 to Old Frederick rd. Some point between Shady Grove rd and Old Frederick rd the roads are no longer marked by route numbers but by names. After riding for a few miles I stopped and look at the GPS I need to head in this direction. Finely seeing a sign that just said 94 with an arrow this way. That was the longest this way to a road. After being on that for a while I cam to a circle. I so just wanted to round and round a few times but this was a little on the busy side. Finely arrived at Mt. Airy Bible Church. The concert was good. The ride home just took the lame way home 70, 32, 295, 95. I did wonder why on 32 they have mandatory headlight use 24/7. It seem like a normal two lane road. But why the signs that was avoid the ticket. Headlights must be on? It was a nice scenic ride need to get back up that way sometime. Next time I'll try and remember to run my tracks and maybe stop and take a few photos.
